What is Lowcountry Giving Day?
Lowcountry Giving Day is a unifying event that gives people the opportunity to support worthy causes within their community. On May 3, 2016, the coastal community unites from Hilton Head to Charleston to the tip of Horry County to make the Lowcountry a better place to live, grow, create and learn.
Thanks to the Coastal Community Foundation's efforts, we are participating yet again in this 24-hour nation-wide crowd funding event.
On Lowcountry Giving Day, we can all accomplish something great together. We believe that your "small change" can make a big difference in the Lowcountry.
This is a day of celebration and we want everyone to get in on the fun. Last year, more than $6.7 million was raised.
Who will you be helping?
Mental Health Heroes is a non-profit organization providing much needed support to people with serious mental illness in Charleston and Dorchester Counties. Your donations go directly to clients who are in need of immediate help!
The mission of Mental Health Heroes is to promote and support the activities and services of the Charleston/Dorchester Community Mental Health Center in its efforts to facilitate the recovery of its clients with mental illness.
Mental Health Heroes has been structured in a manner that allows it to respond quickly to the emergent financial needs of people living with mental illness.
Below are just a few examples of how Mental Health Heroes financial resources have been put to use.
- Paying for important medications
- Access to assessment and treatment resources for a child or adult that would not otherwise be available
- Help paying the electric bill for a family whose sole parent suffers from mental illness
