The CDMHC Client Advisory Board (CAB) is made up of approximately 13-15 patients of the Mental Health Center who have demonstrated a level of wellness in personal recovery. Chaired by Lloyd J Hale II/ Certified Peer Support Specialist, the CAB discusses ideas of interest that will help the MHC function as smoothly as possible, with the patient focus front and center. They meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month for 1 hour.
Deborah Blalock, the CDMHC Executive Director, also attends the board meetings and brings system and management issues to the table for review and input. The CAB reviews the suggestions from our lobby suggestion boxes and offer proposals to make the experience of visiting the MHC more comfortable for the patients and their families.
Annually the Client Advisory Board has been conducting a carwash fundraiser in support of Mental Health Heroes (a non profit organization which helps people with mental illness meet emergent financial needs). The CAB has risen close to $1,000.00 towards this cause. When considering empowerment, the CAB is atop the list, providing a platform for folks to practice the wellness that they’ve achieved through recovery.
